rules and rulemakers in private communities

Sun City Hilton Head in SC is a private community. the 7,500 homes are divided into "neighborhood communities" of about 100 rooftops each. one of our neighbors lived at the confluence of 3 neighborhood communities. A woman complained about the holiday scenes that he projected onto the side of his house (that could be viewed from the street). She complained to the SCHH community association that was run by the builder, Pulte Homes. The SCHH community association said that our neighbor had to stop.

our neighbor surveyed all 3 of the adjacent neighborhood communities. Not one person said that they objected to his display. in fact, most said that they liked his display. nonetheless, he had to remove it. it turns out that the woman who complained lived in another part of the development far from our neighborhood. when our neighbor asked the SCHH community association why other residents were allowed to display the images but he wasn't, he was told "because she complained".

so much for rules and genius rule-makers.

4th quarter

 I was born on December 30, 1946.

The way that I figure it, I'm in the fourth quarter of my life. Next year I'll be 75. If I was to live to be 100, then next year on my birthday I'd be at the beginning of my 4th quarter.

I don't want to live to be 100. So, I like to think that I'm already in the 4th quarter of my life. What I don't know is where am I in the 4th quarter? at the two-minute warning? OK. at the beginning of the 4th quarter? if so, then I'll be in my late 90s when I die.

I don't want to live until my late 90s. why? Look around. the world is a mess. the USA is a mess. religion is a mess. government is a mess. media is a mess. people are a mess. I'm a mess.

besides, I've had a good life. good parents. good schools. married to the same woman for 54 years. children. grandchildren. these are all good things.

but, along with the good times, I've messed up plenty. while I've never been convicted of or charged with a crime, I've had my share of failures. relationships. poor choices. frustration. anger.

then, there's just getting old. it's humbling. my body and mind don't work as well as they used to.

how long does it take to build a profile of one's life?

in school it doesn't take long. there are gifted students and poor students and everywhere in between. I established myself as an ordinary student in grade school and it was pretty much the same all through school.

work is similar. there are good workers and not-so-good workers and a whole lot of workers in between. I did well at some things and not-so-well at others.

life is similar. when I look back, I see a lot of things that I could have done better--and a bunch of downright failures. I figure that my profile is pretty much complete. what's the point of going into overtime?

Solving For Democracy: A democracy without politics, removing the problems that limit our government

polls repeatedly indicate that citizens want term limits. Poll: 82 Percent of Voters Favor Term Limits for Congress | Newsmax.com but, it doesn't happen. why?

in his book, "Solving For Democracy: A democracy without politics, removing the problems that limit our government", author Tony Bracks answers the question "why?". He also analyzes the longstanding problems with the US government and provides solutions to the problems. read the book.

had enough?

the good news is that to fix our dysfunctional government and its two-party system is simple and easy--stop voting for  republican and democratic party candidates, including incumbents.

voting for a republican or a democrat is a vote for their party and a vote for our country's dysfunctional two-party system of government.

even with their billion dollar donors, if voters don't vote for republicans and democrats, then the republican and democratic parties will shrivel up and die.

once the republican and democratic parties are gone, and lobbyists are rendered powerless, then our no-party representatives can fix the USA. much-needed changes to the constitution can be made--like "no taxation without representation", a.k.a. powerful national politicians (e.g. pelosi, mcconnell, etc.) that 99+ percent of americans didn't vote for.

hopefully, some day, when the republican party, the democratic party, antiquated party rules and lobbyists are gone, and the constitution has been amended, then we'll be able to vote for leaders who we can stand behind.

nothing will be better for our country.

the same goes for the news media--stop patronizing biased news media that lobby for the republican and democratic parties instead of reporting the news factually and truthfully. they'll go out of business. nothing will be better for the USA.
