fat man irony

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
Isoroku Yamamoto *

"There is a chance that we could end up having a major, major conflict with north korea."
Donald Trump

ironic

* "Regardless of the provenance of the quote, Yamamoto believed that Japan could not win a protracted war with the US. Moreover, he seems later to have believed that the Pearl Harbor attack had been a blunder—even though he was the person who came up with the idea of a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. It is recorded that "Yamamoto alone" (while all his staff members were celebrating) spent the day after Pearl Harbor "sunk in apparent depression". He is also known to have been upset by the bungling of the Foreign Ministry which led to the attack happening while the countries were technically at peace, thus making the incident an unprovoked sneak attack that would certainly enrage the Americans."

US Navy strong

Mission. “The mission of the (US) Navy is to maintain, train and equip combat-ready Naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas.”

"America’s Navy is a force as relevant today as it’s been historically significant for the last 238 years. The times may change. The threats may become more obscure. The complex nature of 21st century life may make the demand for such a presence less obvious. But now more than ever, the Navy is something to be aware of. Something to be thankful for. Something to be proud of."
The United States Navy Mission Statement : Navy.com

  • "relevant"? "aye, aye, sir!"
  • "threats more obscure"? "negative, sir!"
  • "demand for a presence less obvious"? "NEGATIVE, sir!"
  • "thankful for"? "aye, aye, sir!"
  • "proud of"? "YES, SIR!"

Real news from the US Navy: "If it flies, it will die"

"As the U.S. Navy's Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group approaches the Korean Peninsula in coming days, the head of U.S. Pacific Command had this to say about the prospect of incoming ballistic missiles from North Korea: "If it flies, it will die."
Testifying to the House Armed Services Committee Wednesday, Adm. Harry Harris countered recent reports from media outlets including Bloomberg that the Vinson and its escort ships, the guided-missile destroyers Wayne E. Meyer and Michael Murphy and guided-missile cruiser Lake Champlain, were not equipped to fend off a North Korean missile attack."
Carrier Will Not Be Sunk By North Korean Missiles, Four-Star Says | Military.com
Good for you, Admiral Harris. Thank you. It's about time that someone reminded Congress, the American people, the media, kim jong un, and the rest of the world that the USA is the most powerful country in the world, and that we don't take kindly to some fat ass dictator from a country that's 1/13th the size of ours threatening us or our allies. Pity those who don't take you, 4-star head of the US Pacific Command, seriously. If they don't, then there'll be hell to pay.

Media, when it comes to news, take it from someone who knows--like Admiral Harris, 4-star head of the US Navy's Pacific Command.

a world without liars =

= a world without humans
= a world without strife
= a world without corruption
= a world without pollution
= a world with only truth
= paradise

When trying to tell whether or not someone is lying...
"Also pay attention to what the person is saying, since people who are lying tend to give:
     - fewer facts and details
     - less information about times and places"
http://sciencenetlinks.com/student-teacher-sheets/all-about-lying-honest/

Keep this in mind with politicians, the media, salesmen, etc.
Basically, if their lips are moving, they're lying.

even party die-hards admit that the game is rigged

"Sen. Warren said in an interview on CNN Monday night that "the notion of parties and party identification" in the US is beginning to shift, and people have lost faith in the political status quo. America's energy, Warren said, is shifting to "progressive grassroots" politics.
"It's saying, 'Look, we get it. The game is rigged. It's rigged in favor of those at the top and rigged against the rest of us," Warren said. "And we want some accountability on that."

Here's the solution:

In the next election--national, state or local--vote for anyone except a democrat or a republican.

Our nation will be better off if you do.

reckless kim jong un + "gaffes & missteps" + reckless media = global crisis

"Over the course of 10 days, a series of gaffes and missteps throughout the entire national security structure to its highest levels would raise the specter of a nuclear showdown, send the U.S. and Chinese governments into crisis mode, and expose alarming communication deficiencies within the American military at large. The breakdown fueled a war frenzy at major newspapers and networks, running with the narrative that Trump was diverting the carrier personally to send a message, outlandish claims made without checking for facts until the crisis rhetoric had spun out of control."
https://www.navytimes.com/articles/carried-away-the-inside-story-of-how-the-carl-vinsons-canceled-port-visit-sparked-a-global-crisis

it's a simple formula:
reckless kim jong un +"gaffes & missteps" + reckless media = global crisis

here's the solution:
1. silence reckless kim jong un
2. correct command & control "gaffes & missteps"
3. a more responsible news media that reports the news instead of making up sensational "reports" that have no basis in fact

#1 is easy
#2 is more difficult
#3 is wishful thinking

on a related matter: as if the airlines haven't had enough bad PR recently, not giving refunds to families of US Navy personnel who were to meet their Carl Vinson carrier loved ones in Australia is reprehensible (see comments to Navy Times article).

Congress, where are you?

Bashar al-Assad: war criminal

Syria prison crematory is hiding mass executions, US says - The Boston Globe

"The question of what turns a man into a monster is never an easy one. For Assad, it’s possible the seeds of brutality were planted very early on, lying dormant but ready to emerge when the time was right. Or perhaps he simply succumbed to a system that for decades had existed with the principle goal of keeping hold of power. Certainly, after 2011 there would be no turning back.
As Houry points out, a leader’s true colors come out when their regime is under threat. “Gaddafi did not start out as a crazy man, he ended up that way,” he says. “The real test comes when your authority is really challenged, and Assad’s authority was never challenged before 2011.” When the challenge came, Assad met it, in the eyes of hawks like Tabler, by being “more brutal on his own people than Saddam or Gadaffi ever did.”

attn kim jong un: The B-52 has the capability to carry 70,000 pounds of nuclear or precision guided conventional ordnance with worldwide precision navigation capability

A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, conducted a low-level flight in the vicinity of Osan Air Base, South Korea, in response to recent provocative action by North Korea Jan. 10, 2016. The B-52 was joined by a South Korean F-15K Slam Eagle and a U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon. The B-52 is a long-range, heavy bomber that can fly up to 50,000 feet and has the capability to carry 70,000 pounds of nuclear or precision guided conventional ordnance with worldwide precision navigation capability. what were the roles of the WH and the media in the Carl Vinson aircraft carrier deception?

"There was no nuclear weapons test, and the USS Carl Vinson was not even in the area..."
Here's Why Everyone Was Expecting A War In Korea | The Daily Caller

What were the roles of the trump administration and the media in the Carl Vinson aircraft carrier deception?

The american people want to know.

Nobody trusts the media. There isn't much that can be done about that other than not trusting the media.

But, not trusting the government is an entirely different matter.

Fortunately, there is a solution.

to tell the truth

question: how can one tell if a politician and their minions, including the media, aren't telling the truth?

https://www.facebook.com/TheRealMikeRowe/posts/1488789031131235:0

answer: their lips are moving.

it's an old joke; but, it's more true today than it's ever been.

right weapon, right target

What is the Washington establishment?

"The Washington Establishment is related to the democrat and republican party [sic]. They are highly entrenched in party politics as long as it furthers the agenda of either the democratic or republican party. The people involved in this deception are working hard to further the divide and rule mentality among the populous which if done correctly will continue to propagate the two party system. Any opposition to the two party system will be considered non-mainstream and ignored in terms of public debate. The Washington Establishment has largely been effective at maintaining political control because it seems to include the interests of the government as well as industry. However, the new Washington DC establishment has a difficult time dealing with those outside the corporate and two party system because they don't really have policy that includes these ideas. As a result they attempt to play [sic] lip service to such ideas hoping the public will accept a dumbed down version. Which often does not really protect their personal interest but in fact furthers the interests of the establishment. There can be no real subs tensive [sic] changes to the system unless they are in the interest of the Washington Establishment. As long as the main pillars of control are in place the Washington establishment is happy."
http://www.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_Washington_establishment

Politicians, lobbyists, PACs, party bigwigs, party extremists (e.g. freedom caucus, black caucus, etc.), wealthy party donors, party loyalists, straight-party-line-ticket voters and the media are all part of the conspiracy to perpetuate the washington establishment.

There is a solution:

cruise missles--the USA's "big stick"

Bashar al-Assad isn't afraid of rhetoric. Neither is Kim Jong-un. Or Ali Khamenei.
one of these babies coming through their bedroom window however is a different matter.
Theodore Roosevelt said: "Speak softly and carry a big stick."
The USA's cruise missile is indeed a very accurate and potent "big stick".

Jesus

A PBS program challenges familiar assumptions and conventional notions about Jesus.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/religion/etc/synopsis.html

The program suggests that Jesus may not have been dirt poor, but rather that Joseph was a builder rather than a poor carpenter, who provided for himself, Mary and Jesus comfortably. It also suggests that Jesus was perhaps a Revolutionary, a Firebrand, who spoke out against the occupying Romans, Hebrew scribes and pharisees and others who afflicted the poor.

The program suggests that Jesus' persona may have been changed by the early Christians for many reasons, including fear of reprisal from the Romans and the Jews, to present a more appealing view to potential converts to Christianity, etc.

If, in fact, those who spread the word about Jesus changed His persona from a Firebrand to dirt poor, then we may never know how or why.

Personally, I find the idea that Jesus may have been more of a revolutionary and firebrand rather than dirt poor appealing. I can't help but think that the possible change in persona may have been more destructive than constructive to Christianity.

Perhaps if more Christians saw Jesus as One who passionately spoke out against those who afflicted the poor, then today's Christians might be more apt to speak out against atrocities committed today against the poor.
