collateral damage from trump's dirty bomb statements

it's obvious from the polls that tweeter-in-chief's character assassinations have taken their toll on his popularity at home and around the world.

Trump tweets bring new accusations of sexism, bullying | TheHill

What isn't clear is the collateral damage that the tweeter-in-chief's undignified and reckless dirty bomb tweets and statements will take on his family, his administration, his party and our nation.

Perhaps the real damage won't be known for years, or even decades, to come.

putin vs. trump for next czar

World poll shows little confidence in Trump – except in Russia - Chicago Tribune

There is the solution:

In the next election--national, state or local--vote for anyone except a democrat or a republican.

Our nation will be better off if you do.

a new country is born: California has seceded from the US

"SACRAMENTO >> California has a “travel ban” — and its list of pariah states has suddenly doubled.

The new law took effect in January, banning state employees and officials from using tax money to go to states with laws it deemed discriminatory in regards to LGBT issues — starting with Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee.

And on Thursday, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced that the list had doubled. The ban now includes Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota and Texas, the second-largest state in the U.S.

“Our country has made great strides in dismantling prejudicial laws that have deprived too many of our fellow Americans of their precious rights,” Becerra said in a statement. “Sadly, that is not the case in all parts of our nation, even in the 21st Century."

The new country on the left coast now has a host of issues to resolve:
  • name?
  • government?
  • security, e.g. border wall?
  • motto?
  • flag?
  • and many, many others

justice for a heinous murder in VA

"The murder of an innocent teenage girl, attacked while walking to her mosque, has touched a nerve across the country. Hundreds came out to remember Nabra Hassanen at a vigil Wednesday.

Twenty-two-year-old Darwin Martinez Torres has been charged with her murder. Police and witnesses say he used his car to chase her friends. Then he allegedly assaulted Nabra, took her to a pond in Loudoun county, where it's believed he assaulted her again and killed her. She may have been sexually assaulted."

the godfather: politics in the US

Michael Corleone said it all to Kay in Godfather II:
The Godfather / Michael Corleone on Politics - YouTube

the hand holding the puppet strings is that of the republican party or the democratic party--the person at the other end of the strings is immaterial.

put another way, it's those who control the purse strings (e.g., the mafia)--not the person who you voted for--who are in control. it's the party, the party's elite, its wealthy donors, the lobbyists. http://politics.blog.ajc.com/2017/06/19/the-race-for-georgias-6th-district-now-costs-more-than-50m/

Who do you want to represent you in government?

There will be no real populist movement in the US as long as the democratic party or the republican party are in control.

In the next election--national, state or local--vote for anyone except a democrat or a republican.

solution to a mess

  • terror
  • crime
  • war
  • chaotic government
  • nonstop media

the world is a mess.
our country is a mess.
and the nonstop media that screams bad news 24/7 is a mess.

what can be done?
check out?
I suppose that checking out is one solution; but, many of us have roots, and checking out for us isn't a viable solution.

Sooooo... Government and the media seem to be a common thread. There may not be much that we can do about the nonstop media (other than turning them off); but, there is something that we can do about our government.

Here's the solution:

In the next election--national, state or local--vote for anyone except a democrat or a republican.

Our nation will be better off if you do.

PS The same applies to the media. In refusing to patronize the nonstop media, eventually they will dry up and go away.

smell the coffee, trump

a civics lesson by the numbers:
  1. the US is a republic, not a monarchy or a dictatorship.
  2. in a republic supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives.
  3. the US senate passed a bill by a vote of 98 to 2 to sanction russia and iran.
  4. the US HR will get the bill next; then it will go to the president.
  5. the American people don't trust enemy countries that threaten us and interfere in our elections.
wake up and smell the coffee, trump.

For those with short memories, here's what Nancy Pelosi said in March 2010:

away from the fog of the controversy."

let's get real: separating free speech from mentally-disturbed speech

"In 2006, he (James Hodgkinson, the gunman who viciously attacked US congressmen practicing for their annual baseball charity game) marched into his female neighbor's home to retrieve his underage daughter, pulling the girl out by her hair.

The daughter then fled and hid in the neighbor's car along with the neighbor, but Hodgkinson got access, punched the woman in the face, cut the girl's seatbelt and - along with his wife - pulled the girl out of the car.

He was not convicted.

Lyndon Evanko of Belleville, Illinois, a now-retired lawyer who defended Hodgkinson in that incident, said he was 'a pushy little b*****d, an in-your-face kind of guy,'

'He believed what he believed and he wasn't going to take any s**t from anybody,' Evanko said.

'He was a bit of a misanthrope. He came across as a very irascible, angry little man, but not somebody I would expect to do something like this.

'I would have clients I would suspect for doing something like this, but he's not the one I would have pegged for it. He never had a felony. It was all penny-ante stuff.'"

does this sound like a mentally stable person to you?

Hodgkinson was also reported to have posted online that trump is a traitor and that he (trump) should be in prison. sound familiar? during the presidential primary and election campaign, trump publicly and repeatedly maligned his opponents, including those in his own republican party. trump repeatedly called hillary clinton "crooked hillary" and said that she should be in prison.

yesterday trump, in one of his now patented reversals, condemned uncivil speech with unadulterated hypocrisy.

trump isn't the only political hypocrite around. congress is full of hypocrites, on both sides, who routinely trash their opponents.

so what is it? do as I say, but not as I do?

media talking heads

Today a gunman opened fire on congressmen practicing in a public park in Alexandria VA for their annual charity baseball game.

All morning long "talking heads" on the major television and cable news networks have been telling us what they think that this means.

Some suggest that social media is at fault. Others blame guns. Some say more protection for members of congress is needed. Some say people are too passionate about politics. on and on and on.

Why do media types feel that they must tell the rest of us what they think? Who really cares what some reporter thinks? Report the news (facts). Stop giving us your opinion. We don't care what you think.

FB and blogs are for people to express their opinions. Just because someone has an opinion different from some reporter's doesn't make that person a threat or a nut. My FB page and my blogs are for me to post what I think. Some people may care. Most don't. Frankly, I don't care whether people read my posts or not.

Here's what I think:
  • what happened this morning in Alexandria is a crime.
  • law enforcement should investigate and charge the person(s) responsible.
  • the person(s) charged should be tried, and if found guilty, be put away where he (they) cannot harm others.
  • when a shooting such as the one that occurred this morning happens, unless a victim(s) has a gun and knows how to use it to defend himself, he's helpless--que sera sera. (fact: I do not have, nor have I ever had, a gun.)
  • the media is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

trump: "mean" healthcare bill?

It's hard to take much of what trump says seriously; but, when the "prince of mean" (ask Hillary, other trump political opponents--including those in his own party, subjects of his tweets, etc.) says that something(s) or somebody(ies) is "mean", then one has to take notice. after all, trump, who always seems to be in personal attack mode, is the "prince of mean".

So, what does "mean healthcare bill" really mean?
  • Are the bill's authors mean?
  • government regulators?
  • insurance companies?
  • doctors, nurses, other healthcare professionals?
  • patients?

like so many of trump's nonsensical statements, we'll probably never know.

cold, hard facts

The standard "bell" curve applies widely in nature and in other phenomena, including our personal beliefs and views.

About 68% of values drawn from a normal distribution are within one standard deviation σ away from the mean; about 95% of the values lie within two standard deviations; and about 99.7% are within three standard deviations. This fact is known as the 68-95-99.7 (empirical) rule, or the 3-sigma rule.

Take vegetarianism, for example. It's been estimated that approximately 10% of the world's population are vegetarians. Put another way, meat-eaters outnumber vegetarians 9 to 1.

What are the chances that vegetarians can convince the rest of the world to become vegetarians? not so much.

Likewise, it's been estimated that 10% of the world's population follow sharia law.

get the point?

We would do well to consider how our beliefs and views compare with others. Is our view "mainstream"? or are we on the outer extremes of the "mainstream"?

While it's perfectly OK to be true to our own beliefs and views, whatever they may be (provided they're not illegal, immoral or unjust), if our beliefs and views are on the outer extreme of the mainstream, then we may want to take that into account before trying to ram our beliefs and views down other peoples' throats.

US positions on south and north korea

In the wake of South Korean President Moon Jae-in suspending further THAAD deployment, the US should:
  1. suspend further THAAD deployment in south korea
  2. announce to the world that if north korea attacks south korea that the US will attack north korea because of north korea's ICBM nuclear missile threats against the US
South Korean President Moon Jae-in suspends further THAAD deployment

south korea is a sovereign nation with the sovereign right to determine its own future, even if its acts are foolish.

Likewise, the US is a sovereign nation with the sovereign right to defend itself against unstable north korea that threatens the US with nuclear ICBMs.

when will voters wake up to party lies?

Party SOP for candidates for president is for them to proclaim: "I will unify the country".

Trump did it. Clinton did it. So has every other republican and democratic party candidate for president for the last 50 years.

It's a boldfaced lie.

During the last 50 years the republican and democrat parties have polarized the nation as the two parties have become more and more diametrically opposite and extreme.

It's time to get rid of the republican and democrat parties.

In the next election--national, state or local--vote for anyone except a democrat or a republican.

Our nation will be better off if you do.

trump's 3-ring circus

Phineas Taylor "P. T.Barnum (July 5, 1810 – April 7, 1891) was an American politician, showman, and businessman remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxes and for founding the Barnum & Bailey Circus. Although Barnum was also an author, publisher, philanthropist, and for some time a politician, he said of himself, "I am a showman by profession...and all the gilding shall make nothing else of me", and his personal aim was "to put money in his own coffers".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._T._Barnum

the similarities to trump are astounding!
The good, the bad & the ugly: Donald Trump--the reincarnation of P. T. Barnum

between clowns in the WH, congress and the news media, we've got ourselves a regular P.T. Barnum 3-ring circus in the nation's capital.

There is a solution:

In the next election--national, state or local--vote for anyone except a democrat or a republican.

Our nation will be better off if you do.

it's simple: kill terrorists

Terrorists are murderers who murder indiscriminately--children, etc.

it's really pretty simple: if it's a terrorist, then kill them.

London police shoot dead three terrorist suspects after rampage kills six | UK news | The Guardian

notes to Britain:
  1. is it true that there were police on the London Bridge when the terror attack occurred?
  2. 3 to 4 hours after the attack, the area still looked like total chaos.
  3. you can't win the war on terror if the good guys don't have guns.
  4. if the police on the London Bridge had guns, then the knife attacks may not have occurred.

politics and the catholic church

Jesus said to them, “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”
Mark 12:17

from telling its members how to vote to telling countries what to do, the catholic church fails to follow Jesus' command in Mark 12:17.

all catholics know that jesuits are liberals.

it's not all that surprising that you can't change the spots on a leopard.

As far as "...to God what belongs to God" is concerned, the pope could begin by resolving the priests-sexually-abusing-children-and-bishops-covering-it-up mess in the catholic church.

it's long overdue.

how would kathy griffin have reacted to a photo of trump holding a likeness of her decapitated head?

Let me get this straight.

kathy griffin (does any normal person think that she's funny?) is videotaped holding a likeness of trump's decapitated head.

trump and others voice their disgust at her sick stunt.

now griffin says that trump has ruined her life.
