Life expectancy in the USA, 1946 & 1998
men and women
Year M F
1946 64.4 69.4
1998 73.8 79.5
source: Life expectancy in the USA, 1900-98
(1998 being the most current year)
Googling "usa life expectancy" gives 78.94 years (combined M & F) for 2014 (sources include US Census Bureau and World Bank).
With all the talk about health care and the ACA, life expectancy in the USA has increased approximately 10 years (15%) in my lifetime. Most, if not all, of that
increase occurred before the ACA became law in 2010.
how long do you expect to live?
it seems to me that many want "Rolls Royce" as far as their health care is concerned; but, few can, or want to, pay for their Rolls Royce health care. I can see subsidizing those who have life-threatening health issues and are younger than the average life expectancy (particularly those who are much younger); but, I can't see subsidizing those who are at, or older than, average life expectancy--particularly those who can pay for their health care themselves.
