This Day in Quotes: “We have met the enemy and he is us.”

I remember my aunt showing me this in a cartoon in the newspaper in the 1950s, long before the 1970 Earth Day poster. 

It's timeless. It applies to so much more than litter--water and air pollution, global warming, traffic, crime, gun violence, racism, poverty, greed, hunger, war, politics, government ineffectiveness, etc. 

We are our own worst enemy in our failure to stand up, to speak out and to act accordingly.
